Martina Alzini narrowly missed victory in the first edition of the Midwest Cycling Classic, a 135-kilometer race held today in Belgium. The 28-year-old Milan native from Cofidis crossed the finish line in Oostrozebeke in second place, beaten only by the U23 European vice-champion Scarlett Souren, representing VolkerWessels.
Completing the podium was another athlete from the Dutch team, Lonneke Uneken, who raced for SD Worx Protime until last season.
