Lienz / Lienz, the fifth and final stage of the Tour of the Alps 2025 was dominated by the French Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team: Paul Seixas and Nicolas Prodhomme pedaled ahead of everyone in the final kilometers of the race and arrived at the finish line jubilant with Prodhomme crossing the line first, happy for his first career victory. 29" behind the winner came German Emil Herzog (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) who completed the podium, ahead by about thirty seconds of Koen Bouwman (Team Jayco AlUla), fourth, and Mattia Bais (Polti Kometa), fifth.
Michael Storer (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) delivered a great performance by launching himself in pursuit of the breakaway riders and finishing in eighth position: this allowed him to dethrone Thymen Arensman (INEOS Grenadiers) and thus win the Tour of the Alps with 1'33" over the Dutch rider, 4'07" over Canadian Derek Gee and 5'09" over Giulio Ciccone, fourth in the general classification.
The final stage was animated by 15 riders: Lennart Kämna (Lidl Trek), Fran Miholjevic, Finlay Pickering (Bahrain Victorious), Matteo Vanhuffel (Picnic PostNL), Emil Herzog, Ben Zwiehoff (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe), Koen Bouwman (Jayco AlUla), Nicolas Prodhomme, Paul Seixas (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), Jakob Fuglsang (Israel-PremierTech), Lucas Eriksson (Tudor), Vicente Rojas, Manuele Tarozzi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), Mattia Bais (Polti VisitMalta) and Daniel Geismayr (Team Voralberg), who managed to gain up to 4 minutes on the group.
After having the Ineos Grenadiers work for most of the stage, Tudor lit the fuse on the second passage of Bannberg, when Florian Stork opened the gas, bringing only his teammate Storer and leader Arensman with him. After the German's work was done, Storer attacked decisively, immediately making the difference and reaching the top of Bannberg with 30" on Arensman and 1'45" on all other favorites. The Australian then reached his teammate Eriksson, who had been in the breakaway, and who helped him until the start of the Stronach climb before continuing solo in an attempt to catch the breakaway riders.
Meanwhile, at the front, as the road climbed towards the Stronach GPM, Paul Seixas picked up the pace, soon joined by Nicolas Prodhomme. From the descent to the finish line, it was a "couple's time trial" concluded with a joint arrival.
