On May 23, after ten years, the Giro d'Italia will return to Vicenza, but the atmosphere of the Pink Race will be experienced at Campo Marzo from May 22 to 25. For four days, the area will host the stage village, allowing those who reach the city of Vicenza during the stage days to immediately be embraced by the Giro atmosphere, together with other enthusiasts from around the world.
The garden, close to Vicenza's city center and just a few meters from the station, will host events, stands, and spaces dedicated to sponsors, athletes, and fans, who have already responded with enthusiasm since the announcement of the Giro's arrival in the city, participating in many events related to the race. The stage village will also remain open in the two days following the stage, to welcome tourists who decide to extend their stay in Vicenza until the weekend.
The announcement was made by the Berici Stage Committee during a press conference held at Palazzo Trissino, where the layout map was also presented.
What Will Happen at the Stage Village
The Stage Village will be open from 6 PM to 10 PM on Thursday, May 22, while on the other three days it will be open from morning until late evening. The program of events that will animate Campo Marzo is still being finalized, but already includes sporting activities such as the Regional FCI race for youth and juniors, the cycling after-work event, the B&C night gravel ride, and the non-competitive "Around the Berici" tour.
There will be several educational moments, including the presence of the L'Ultimo Uomo podcast, whose hosts will comment live on Friday's stage, "Drawing the Bicycle" with Vicenza scene protagonists, "Safety is for Cyclists" organized by the Municipality of Vicenza and technical sponsors, and "Learning to Repair a Bicycle" led by local mechanics. Additionally, there will be the historical Alpine band performance, the Scalagiro cycling contest award ceremony, the photography contest awards by Il Punto Focale, and a parachutist landing. Each evening will end with a different DJ. The complete program will be announced in the coming days.
The Campo Marzo village will host a stage with a large screen to follow events and the race live, a food and beverage area, a space dedicated to craft breweries, areas for sports activities for children and adults, carousels, an exhibition area with merchandise from the Berici Stage, and many spaces dedicated to sports and companies supporting the Berici Stage, which will have a great international visibility opportunity in these four days. There will be points dedicated to Berici Stage partners and sporting events, commercial sponsors, and technical sponsors.
A Stage Designed to Surprise and Create Spectacle
In the thirteenth stage, on May 23, the Giro d'Italia will reach Vicenza after 180 kilometers starting from Rovigo, crossing the Berici Hills to the finish line at the Monte Berico Sanctuary. An unpredictable finale, designed to inspire the imagination of attackers and finisseurs who will want to try to surprise the fast wheels of the group and avoid a sprint. Ten years ago, this same finish line saw the victory of former world champion Philippe Gilbert, who anticipated the pink jersey Alberto Contador after a series of attacks and counter-attacks. The 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia will start on May 9 in Durres, Albania, and will conclude on June 1 in Rome.
