Davide Ballerini was incredibly unlucky while riding a prominent Paris-Roubaix. Exiting a cobblestone sector, the XdS Astana rider found a masseur who had leaned too far into the center of the road and could not avoid him. With an impressive balancing act, Ballerini managed to prevent a fall but had to wait for the team car. The Lombard rider tried to continue, but the pain in his right wrist, the limb involved in the impact, was so severe that it forced Ballerini to withdraw and head to the hospital for the necessary examinations.
