From Ca' del Poggio to Grammont. The walls of Italy and Belgium confirm their gemellaggio in the name of great cycling, ahead of the most anticipated event: the passage of the fifteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia that will transit on the iconic climb of San Pietro di Feletto on May 25th, the third Sunday of the 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia.
On the occasion of the Tour of Flanders, Alberto Stocco traveled to Belgium to renew the sentiment of closeness that has linked the Grammont Wall to the Ca' del Poggio Wall for several years. On one side, the most classic and never-forgotten ascent of the Tour of Flanders, on the other, the climb among the Prosecco hills, preparing to welcome the eighth passage of the Giro d'Italia.
A moment strongly desired by the Veneto Region and particularly by President Zaia, who sees the Ca' del Poggio Wall as a driving element in promoting the territory, the symbol of a slow, sustainable tourism that easily identifies with the bicycle.
Just returned to San Pietro di Feletto, Stocco performed a symbolic ribbon-cutting on the Ca' del Poggio Wall to mark the beginning of the countdown to the return of the Pink Race on the famous climb among the vineyards. By his side was also Poggy, the friendly mascot of the Wall, who promises to entertain both young and old on May 25th.
For the Pink Race, it will be, as mentioned, the eighth passage on the Ca' del Poggio Wall, after the applause received in the 2009, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2020, 2022, and 2024 editions. Moreover, in 2025, the Giro d'Italia Women will also return to the Wall, having already passed here in 2014 and 2017. The appointment is for July 9th, and it will be another moment not to be missed for all cycling enthusiasts.
Exactly one year after the last time (it was May 25th, 2024), the great pink celebration among the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is ready to be proposed again with what can now rightfully be included among the most classic climbs of the Giro d'Italia.
The Ca' del Poggio Wall - the only climb officially certified by the Italian Cycling Federation, twinned since 2016 with the Grammont Wall and since 2018 with the Mur-de-Bretagne, which in 2025 will host the finish of a Tour de France stage - has unique characteristics. It develops for just over a kilometer on a fully paved road, with an average gradient of 15% and peaks of 19%. It's a decisive, almost violent climb that in 2025 is again a candidate to be among the most spectacular and anticipated moments of the Giro d'Italia.
An authentic vertical spectacle (even though we are only a little over 200 meters above sea level) that promises to recreate the magic of the twenty thousand and more enthusiasts who in recent editions - last year, under the rain - accompanied the passage of the riders among the vineyards.
Among the moments that will mark the approach to the Giro d'Italia stage on May 25th is also the conference titled "Talent: Recognizing and Developing It" that on Tuesday, April 15th, at 8:30 PM, at Ca' del Poggio, organized by the AIA section of Conegliano, will feature interventions by Daniele Orsato (former international referee), Luca Gotti (Serie A coach), Andrea Vendrame (professional cyclist), and Sky Sport journalists Fabio Tavelli, Vittoria Orlando, and Leo Turrini.
Previously, on Sunday, April 13th, at 8:30 PM, for "Words in a Glass", an itinerant literary review in the territory of San Pietro di Feletto, Ca' del Poggio will host a meeting with writer, cartoonist, musician, and radio host Gianluca Morozzi, who will present his latest novel "What Happened to the Snow".
