The time has come for the debut of the Youth team of Aspiratori Otelli Alchem CWC, racing on Sunday in Camignone (Brescia) for the 48th Mario and Teres Zinelli Memorial Trophy, a 55.6-kilometer race starting at 9:30 AM.
This year, as in previous years, the "central" age group of the team from Sarezzo will be led by sports directors Ivan Terenghi and Saverio Resinelli, who will guide the full lineup of 10 riders on Sunday.
"The debut," comments Saverio Resinelli, "comes in a race on our territory that immediately presents us with an undulating course to tackle. Looking at the roster, out of the 10 riders, 6 are making their debut in the Youth category, while 4 (Cristian and Federico Rezzaghi, Giacomo Gheda, and Mattia Mercantini) are second-year riders (2009 class). It's too early to define objectives. In my 25 years as a sports director at Aspiratori Otelli, I've seen generations of riders grow, and some who didn't particularly stand out as Youth riders have gone on to become professionals. The season is long, there's fun to be had, and the events with jerseys at stake (provincial, regional, and national) are always important, as are the races on our territory. The primary goal, however, is for the riders to listen and behave well: this comes before any result."
