He had attacked 10 kilometers from the finish, showing good form ahead of Milan-Sanremo, but Jasper Philipsen crashed 1000 meters from the finish line and could not take part in the sprint that decided the Nokere Koerse.
The final victory went to the Dutchman Nils Eekhoff (Team Picnic PostNL) who finished ahead of Matteo Moschetti (Q36.5) and Luke Lamperti (Soudal Quick-Step). A good performance also by Alberto Dainese (Tudor) who finished in eighth position.
The race was enlivened by the action of Rasmus Bøgh Wallin (Uno-X Mobility), Jelle Johannink (Unibet Tietema Rockets) and Lennert Teugels (Tarteletto – Isorex). The 29-year-old Dane was the last of the attackers to be caught by the peloton with 11 kilometers to go. A few pedal strokes with the compact group and then a great acceleration by Jasper Philipsen broke the group, and with a slight margin, he and eight others remained at the front.
With 3 kilometers to go, the group of the best, composed of about forty riders, came back together, but in the last kilometer a swerve caused a crash.
MOSCHETTI'S WORDS: "It was a difficult sprint that I approached in a good position. I tried to wait until the last moment and then attack, but I was really going all out, it's still a very good second place"
