Less than a week remains until the 13th edition of the Gold in Euro Trophy – Women's Bike Race, which will take place on Sunday, March 9th in Montignoso, Versilia. The race, classified as 1.1, is the result of the great organizational effort of the A.S.D Montignoso, which has turned the competition into a classic of the international women's calendar.
The route will be in the sign of tradition with start and finish on Viale IV Novembre for a total of 106.8 km. The competition will start at 1:30 PM from Viale IV Novembre, and the athletes will have to tackle a double circuit around the town of Montignoso. In the first part of the race, the group will be engaged in a flat 13-kilometer circuit to be repeated 5 times; the competition will come alive 41.8 km from the finish when the final double lap of 20.9 km begins. The nerve center of the race will certainly be the Fortezza climb, a 3.5 km ascent with an average of 6% that will end 12 km from the finish. In the previous edition, it was precisely on the slopes of the Fortezza climb that Elisa Longo Borghini made the difference, eventually arriving solo at the finish line.
The group will pass under the finish line banner in Viale IV Novembre in the Cinquale area of Montignoso as many as 6 times, thus giving the present public the opportunity to fully experience the race.
Elisa Longo Borghini comes to the start as the reigning champion and with the goal of achieving her third victory in the Versilia classic. The Italian champion and her UAE Team ADQ will have to contend with six other World Tour teams with athletes of the caliber of Neve Bradbury, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, and Pauliena Roijakkers. A total of 27 teams will be at the start of the competition.
Also this year, thanks to the close collaboration between A.S.D Montignoso and the Gold in Euro jewelry stores, it will be possible to follow the last two hours of the race live starting from 2:30 PM via the link www.montignosociclismo.org/live.
