
On Thursday, February 27th, at the Chamber of Deputies, the Professional Cycling League presented the second edition of the "Regions' Cup" during a meeting that addressed the theme "Cycling, Values, and Territories". The 2025 Regions' Cup marks the entry of women's cycling into the Professional League, which, among other goals, aims to guarantee economic parity with male colleagues: "An important milestone," emphasizes Mario Minervino, "for which we congratulate Hon. Roberto Pella and the League we gladly joined. In Rome, we experienced a historic day together with representatives from Cittiglio, Luino, and Maccagno with Pino and Veddasca, but it's as if all the municipalities of the Verbano Valley hosting the Binda Trophy were present at the Chamber of Deputies".
The meeting was attended by: Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Pella, President of the Professional Cycling League, Vito Bardi, Coordinator of the Sports Commission of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, President of the Basilicata Region, Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sports and Youth, Giancarlo Giorgetti (via video) Minister of Economy and Finance, Eugenia Maria Roccella, Minister for Family, Natality, and Equal Opportunities, Daniela Santanchè, Minister of Tourism, and champions Gianni Bugno, Vincenzo Nibali, Giuseppe Saronni, Francesco Moser.
Representing the enthusiasm of the territory hosting the Binda Trophy were: Mario Minervino (President of Cycling Sport Promotion), Enrico Bianchi (Mayor of Luino), Rossella Magnani (Mayor of Cittiglio), Diego Fiore (Deputy Mayor of Cittiglio), Giovanni D'Angelo (Cittiglio Municipal Councilor), Ivan Vargiu (Mayor of Maccagno with Pino and Veddasca), Patrizia Villani (Deputy Mayor of Maccagno with Pino and Veddasca).
Meanwhile, the program of initiatives preceding the Alfredo Binda Trophy - Municipality of Cittiglio and the Small Binda Trophy - Verbano Valleys, scheduled for Sunday, March 16th with departure from Luino and arrival in Cittiglio, is expanding. On Friday, March 14th at 9:00 PM, Palazzo Verbania in Luino will host, curated by councilor Ivan Martinelli, an open meeting for the entire citizenry on the theme: "the road belongs to everyone, starting with the most vulnerable": reflections on the theme by students from ISIS Città di Luino - Carlo Volontè and Sereni High School. Participants include: Marco and Giacomo Scarponi (Secretary General and President of the Scarponi Foundation), engineer Riccardo Aceti (sports facility designer), Matteo Dondè (urban architect), Giuseppe Martinelli (former cyclist and sports director), journalist Stefania Bardelli. Additionally, on Saturday, March 15th in Luino, the fourth edition of "Let's Pedal Together" will take place, a father's bicycle festival, a non-competitive walk open to all types of bicycles, gathering in Liberty Square at 3:00 PM. Marco and Giacomo Scarponi will be present.
