A true Florentine, a well-known and respected figure, Gian Paolo Ristori, born in 1939, president of the Aurora Sports Association at Torquato Tasso Square, the society that has been organizing the amateur classic Florence-Viareggio every Ferragosto since 1946, has passed away in his city.
His commitment to the race was always constant and passionate; in his role as president, he worked with great dedication and passion, first to help the Florence-Mare race grow and then to maintain its high standards, together with the Aurora society's collaborators, which he deeply loved.
And how many days Gian Paolo (in the photo, center in a white shirt) spent in the "Torrino" at Torquato Tasso Square with his friends, after a life as the owner of a "Florentia Legno" business in Oltrarno. In recent times, he had stepped back, but was always connected to Aurora's affairs, and we are certain he will always be remembered.
To Gian Paolo Ristori's family and relatives, we extend the most heartfelt condolences from the entire national and particularly Tuscan cycling community.
Gian Paolo Ristori's funeral will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, February 25th at 3 PM at the Sant'Ilario church in Colombaia, in the Porta Romana area of Florence.
