The new year brings substantial novelties to Mastromarco in the cycling world, with the historic society leaving elite and under-23 categories to focus on juniors and with the close involvement of Vincenzo Nibali, who has been linked to the Pistoia area for years due to his cycling background. The jersey colors change, returning to the yellow and blue of the past with the central writing "Vincit" which is a trademark of Vincenzo Nibali and means "to win" in Latin. Mastromarco Vincit will try to do so with a team of eight juniors entrusted to the expertise and professionalism of Carlo Franceschi, one of the historic "fathers" of the society as an athlete first and later as sports director and president, along with the skills and abilities of former professional Gabriele Balducci, who has been serving as sports director for many years and has merits in launching athletes and obtaining important results.
From Vincenzo Nibali, who will practically adopt and sponsor the team, valuable suggestions and advice are also expected, considering his knowledge of today's cycling and after an extraordinary career. In recent days, the junior team gathered for a first contact, while the actual preparation for the new season will begin in January. For Mastromarco Vincit, the season will open at home with the Giuliano Baronti Memorial in Cerbaia di Lamporecchio on March 2nd. Eight riders, some of whom have achieved success as juniors and have shown margins for improvement that they can express in the junior category. Four are making their debut in the junior category: Postpischl (one victory in 2024) and Iavazzo from Team Valdinievole, Cialdini from Empolese, and Pucci from Iperfinish. Those in their second year in the junior category are the Picchianti-Bartoli tandem (Michele's nephew) from Stabbia Dover, and the Mati-Innocenti pair from U.C. Pistoiese. Activities in Tuscany in 2025, but also events outside the region are in the team's program, which will be defined in detail in the coming weeks.
THE TEAM: Matteo Cialdini, Lorenzo Pucci, Cesare Picchianti, Danilo Bartoli, Filippo Postpischl, Marco Mati, Luca Iavazzo, Lorenzo Innocenti.
