CYCLOCROSS | 30/12/2024 | 08:10
Scorzè was a true celebration of sport. In this small town in the province of Venice, the 50th Cartoveneta Grand Prix took place, organized by C.S. Libertas Scorzè, chaired by Mario Pollon. Since 1974, Igino Michieletto has been the soul and promoter of the event, always putting his passion and professionalism into advancing this event and cyclocross within Libertas Scorzè. In all editions, the main sponsor has been Cartoveneta, which first with Cav. Bruno Michieletto, and now with his sons Renzo and Diego, has always maintained its proximity to Scorzè's cyclocross. The 50th Cartoveneta Grand Prix was preceded by a rich presentation evening at the Elios Theater, attended by many authorities, prominent athletes, and especially many athletes who have worn the glorious Libertas Scorzè jersey. On Sunday, a stage of the Triveneto Trophy valid as the Veneto regional UCI category championship and Venice provincial championship was held. Despite the sun and blue sky, the fearsome mud of Scorzè did not disappoint and, as always, made the competitions very selective. As every year, this event could count on a great public turnout.
The Men's Open competition featured a top-tier cast of participants. The entire race offered an exciting duel between two of the best Italian interpreters of this discipline, Italian Elite Champion Filippo Fontana (C.S. Carabinieri) and multiple Italian champion Jakob Dorigoni (Torpado Kenda). The Treviso native and the South Tyrolean always led together. Attacks and counter-attacks were not enough to decide the outcome.
In the finale, Jakob Dorigoni approached the final straight with a few meters advantage over Filippo Fontana and raised his arms to the sky. Third place went to another great expert of Italian cyclocross, the Valtellina native Nicolas Samparisi (Ktm Alchemist). Filippo Fontana was crowned Elite regional champion. Verona's Ettore Prà, meanwhile, won the Under 23 title.
The Juniors challenge featured a brilliant Mattia Proietti Gagliardoni. The Umbrian athlete from Fas Airport Service Guerciotti pulled ahead in the second part of the race and claimed a well-deserved victory. Treviso's Pietro Duregon (San Vendemiano) secured the Veneto regional title thanks to his second-place finish. The third step of the podium went to Treviso's Pietro Deon (Sanfiorese).
The Women's Open race was dominated by Fas Airport Services Guerciotti athletes. Leading from the first to the last lap was the Under 23 Nelia Kabetaj, an Albanian champion who has always lived in Tuscany, who preceded the young Brescia junior Elisa Bianchi. The Elite podium was completed by South Tyrolean legend Eva Lechner (Ale Cycling Team) and Venetian Gaia Santin (Team Bosco Orsago), who wore the regional champion jersey.
The race reserved for students was marked by victories by all Friulian athletes. Among the second-year students, Nicolò Marzinotto (Sorgente Pradipozzo) prevailed. Among the first-year boys, the "red" Riccardo Tofful (Sanfiorese) celebrated. Among the girls, the strongest was Ambra Savorgnano (Dp66). In the beginners' race, Samuel Dal Molin (Veloce Club Borgo) and Giulia Bon (BTeam Cyclocross) won.
In the Masters, victories went to Marco Gazzola (Bibione Cycling) in Fascia 1, Carmine Del Riccio (Sunshine Racers) in Fascia 2, Stefano Nicoletti (Emiliana Bike) in Fascia 3, Giuseppe Dal Grande (Zero5 Bike) in Fascia 4, and Chiara Selva (Spezzotto) among the Masterwoman.
