Starting from Heredia, after two stages the Vuelta a Costa Rica sees Costa Rican Daniel Luis Oses of Team 7C Economy Lacoinex leading the classification with a 1'33" advantage over Dutchman Lars Quaedvlieg (Universe Cycling Team) and 1'48" over his compatriot and teammate John Jimenez.
At the finish line of the first stage, arriving in Liberia after 198 km, the American John Borstelmann of BTR Racing prevailed in a sprint over Jimenez and Mexican Prado. The second day, which saw the caravan move from the Parque locality to conclude the 216 km in Ciudad Quesada, welcomed the victory of local rider Alejandro Granados Bonilla of Team Colono Bikestation Kölbi, who preceded his teammate Pablo Luis Mudarra by 5" and Ecuadorian Santiago Montenegreo of Movistar Best PC by 7". Today is scheduled the longest stage of the Vuelta with its 223 km from San Carlos to Paraíso.
