The organizers of the Volta a Catalunya have issued a statement that we are sharing below to inform that today's stage will be shortened due to a weather alert
Following recommendations from the Catalan Traffic Service and competent authorities, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya was forced to interrupt its sixth stage between Berga and Queralt in response to the activation of the special VENTCAT emergency plan due to wind risk in Catalonia, which has entered the Alert phase. In this way, the sixth stage of the Volta will be reduced in kilometers and it will not be possible to climb the Coll del Pradell, located over 1,700 meters in altitude, where the impact could be more severe. Finally, the stage will have a distance of 118.6 km and the Coll de Batallola (3rd Category), the Collada de San Isidro (1st Category) and the final climb to Queralt (1st Category) will be maintained, eliminating the passage through Pradell.
Likewise, gatherings in the finish area will be minimal to ensure that no structure is affected by the wind and could represent a danger for participants. With this modification, the start time of the stage is postponed to 1:55 PM, with road surface control from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM
