Montichiari (BS), 30th March 2014_First opportunity and first victory for Marco Aurelio Fontana in 2014 Internazionali d'Italia.
In the beautiful circuit of Montichiari Prorider had no rivals, taking the lead from the first lap and gradually increasing his advantage on the immediate pursuers. At the end of the six laps of the technical and spectacular track in and out Bonoris Castle, Fontana crossed the finish line 1'08" before the Swiss Florian Vogel (Scott-Odlo MTB Racing) and 1'36" before Ralf Näf (BMC Mountain Bike Racing Team). The Italian Gerhard Kerschbaumer (I.Idro Drain Bianchi) was 4th with 1'36" gap and the French Miguel Martinez (FRM Factory Racing Team) 5th 1'49" after Fontana.
Cannondale Factory Racing rider commented on his success: «The XCO World Cup is going to start soon, for this reason I wanted an aggressive race. I'm happy because the condition is growing and I lead the race from the beginning to the end without problems. The audience here is always warm and welcoming, the people on the course has been amazing. I heard that my fans had as much as I desire for revenge. I'm very happy for today test, but at the same time I'm conscious that the big goals for me and my team are yet to come».
Next race on the calendar for Marco Aurelio Fontana is going to be Internazionali d'Italia 3rd stage in Nalles (BZ) on Sunday 6th April.
