Sunday, July 13, 2025 will see the first edition of Giro del Mito-ElectricLine, the new cycling granfondo starting and ending in Bagno di Romagna, in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines. An event that combines sport, nature, history, and culture in a territory that has made cycling history, crossed by memorable stages of the Giro d'Italia and, more recently, the Tour de France. Organization by River22 Sporting Club, with the patronage of the Union of Municipalities of Valle del Savio, Municipality of Bagno di Romagna, and National Park of Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna. The granfondo is part of the national ACSI circuit.
The presentation took place in the Congress Hall of Palazzo del Capitano in Bagno di Romagna (FC), the city that will be the heart of the event that will enliven the city center for two days, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July 2025.
Present in the room were Enrico Spighi, Mayor of Bagno di Romagna; Daniele Valbonesi, Regional Councilor of Emilia-Romagna; Claudia Mazzoli, Acting President of the National Park of Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna, as well as Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Territorial and Economic Development of Bagno di Romagna; Mattia Lusini, Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Bagno di Romagna; Monica Rossi, President of Valle Savio Municipalities Union and Councilor of Forlì-Cesena Province; Moreno Para, Federico Para and Giovanni Rossi from the organization, curated by River22 Sporting Club; Sergio Pironi for ACSI Forlì-Cesena, along with sponsors, representatives of law enforcement, and personalities from sports and civil society.
The concept: a challenge beyond time
Giro del Mito is born as a unique cycling experience, capable of merging the sporting challenge with the evocative power of myth. The Myth as a universal narrative of courage, limit, and transformation. The Myth as a symbol of an extraordinary territory, where the Casentino Forests, the thermal waters of Bagno di Romagna, the legendary figure of Saint Agnes, and the great climbs of the Apennines tackled by champions and great cycling races become epic scenarios, between history, sport, and myth.
A granfondo for the audacious, called to a challenge "beyond time", illuminated by the Myths: the Sacred Forests, Marco Pantani's routes, great races like the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.
A project born in the territory
Giro del Mito is organized by River22 Sporting Club, a sports center specialized in fitness, tennis, and padel, recently renovated and continuously expanding in Bagno di Romagna. The event is born to enhance the territory, promote sports tourism, and create virtuous synergies with local entities, associations, and accommodation facilities, while celebrating the great stories and champions who wrote unforgettable pages of cycling on these roads.
Important support from sponsors ElectricLine, CLAS, Idrotermica Coop, Conad City of San Piero in Bagno, USTEC, Comitel, Nibble, Fit Interiors, Melini Oberdan, Teamwork Hospitality, Agrimarket, and Lanzi Infissi Falegnameria.
An event for everyone, beyond the race
Giro del Mito will also be a great popular celebration, with a two-day program – Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July – dedicated to cyclists, families, and visitors. Food stands, DJ sets and musical entertainment by Radio Studio Delta, expo area, activities for adults and children (with themed games) will enliven the center of Bagno di Romagna.
Also important are the agreements with local accommodation facilities that have chosen to partner with Giro del Mito to facilitate overnight stays for registered participants who, for two days, will experience the territory of Bagno di Romagna and Valle del Savio from a sporting, food and wine, and attractive perspective.
Two routes, one Myth
Participants can choose between two routes, both immersed in the unspoiled landscape of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines and designed to offer an authentic and spectacular experience.
- Long route (133 km, 3,000 meters of elevation gain): designed for climbers, touches two Regions (Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany) and two provinces (Forlì-Cesena, Arezzo) and tackles legendary climbs like Passo dei Mandrioli, Passo della Calla (15 km and 825 meters of elevation gain), Passo del Carnaio, Selvapiana, and Acquapartita.
- Short route (69 km, 1,500 meters of elevation gain): more accessible but full of charm, touches two Municipalities (Bagno di Romagna and Verghereto) and develops around Monte Fumaiolo, then sharing with the long route the final climb towards Selvapiana and Acquapartita, up to the finish line in Bagno di Romagna.
