Filippo Fiorelli is once again a protagonist at the Abruzzo Tour. The Sicilian rider from VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizan secured his second consecutive podium, finishing second again in today's stage, a 138 km route from Tocco di Casauria to Penne. Fiorelli won the group sprint behind Portuguese rider Ivo Oliveira. A performance that earned him the leader's jersey in both the general and points classifications.
These are his words: "Today's second place hurts more than yesterday's. I was really aiming for the victory because my condition is good, I felt strong and believed it was the right day. Yesterday there was some disappointment, but on that type of course my legs didn't allow me to do more, so I ultimately accepted the result as it was. Today is different, today it really stings, because I knew I could compete until the end. It's one of those days that stay in your head and that you keep replaying a thousand times when evening comes. Friday at San Gabriele? Yes, it could be a stage that suits me. It will also depend on how my teammates are doing, especially the sprinters, and then we'll decide how to move. In any case, the team is doing well, it shows, we're always present, always attacking. This is exactly how we had planned this Abruzzo Tour, with an aggressive attitude, and we're interpreting it in the best way. At Tirreno I proved I can stay with the best, and that's also why I came here with the desire to achieve a great result".
