A good news comes from UAE Team ADQ: Elisa Longo Borghini will return to competition at the Brabant Arrow, after recovering from the concussion sustained during the Tour of Flanders.
After 10 days of rest and a gradual return to activity, carefully monitored, Elisa has shown positive and consistent recovery signs, with no residual symptoms. She was constantly followed by the team's medical staff and performance department throughout the process.
The UCI Protocol for Concussions was followed scrupulously during rehabilitation, ensuring a safe and medically approved return to this weekend's competitions.
"Elisa has responded very well to the recovery plan. We followed every step in line with UCI guidelines for concussion management. She is symptom-free, physically ready, and mentally motivated to return to racing," explained UAE Team ADQ doctor Nele Beeckmans.
Elisa Longo Borghini herself adds: "The desire to return already in Friday's race was driven by my health supporting me. Together with the team's medical staff, we applied various return protocols, conducted several concussion tests, and it was highlighted that I have no problems. Consequently, the Brabant race comes as a comeback race to understand how I feel in a racing situation. It's clear that I'm coming without pressure, with only the desire to race and test my sensations, and if anything abnormal occurs, the team doctors will monitor me and be ready to take action. But based on the latest tests, everything indicates that I'm well, and I've had no problems during training, so the go-ahead to return to racing has arrived."
At the Brabant Arrow, which covers 125.7 km from Lennik to Overijsem, alongside the Italian champion, UAE ADQ will field Silvia Persico, Sofia Bertizzolo, Eleonora Gasparrini, Brodie Chapman, and Maeva Squiban.
