The Milan-Sanremo officially opens the season of the Great Classics. It's the race that, for over a century, marks the heartbeat of the cycling spring: almost 300 kilometers of history, effort, and legend, between the cold of the Lombard departure and the scent of the sea at the finish on the Riviera dei Fiori. And it's precisely in these days, when world cycling gathers to tell new feats and old glories, that the Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum confirms its role as keeper of the most authentic emotions of this sport.
The Museum reopened on March 1st, 2025, in perfect sync with the start of the cycling season, giving its visitors a day packed with passion, stories, and exceptional testimonies. Among the protagonists of the inauguration were Gianni Bugno, Claudio Chiappucci, Marino Vigna, and Marco Giovannetti, who shared with the public anecdotes and memories related to the "Great Cycling Feats", the book by Beppe Conti (Graphot publisher), capable of bringing back the fascination of legendary challenges.
New enthusiasm and Pogačar's wonders
Alongside them, Chiara Colombo, world champion in para-cycling track, brought her moving testimony: "I touched Pogačar's jerseys and my mom made me caress a historic pink jersey. I don't know whose anymore. But it was very emotional, entering this Museum makes your heart beat faster". A heart that beats strongly also thanks to new additions to the collection, including the bicycle and jersey with which Marco Giovannetti won the 1990 Vuelta a España, donated to the Museum on the occasion of its reopening.
But the real news that is making fans' eyes shine concerns the Slovenian champion Tadej Pogačar: three of his iconic bicycles - Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and World Championship - are now on display at Ghisallo, together with their respective jerseys, thanks to the collaboration with Colnago and the precious support of Manolo Bertocchi, Head of Strategy and Marketing of the company.
The 2025 season of the Museum started with a tailwind, enriched also by memories of professional cycling today and yesterday of Team Polti. The Museum celebrates this history with two special jerseys: the pink jersey of the Women's Giro d'Italia won by Elisa Longo Borghini and a Team Polti Kometa 2024 jersey signed by the entire team. And from the glorious Polti past comes the bicycle with which Ivan Gotti conquered the time trial of the 1999 Giro d'Italia. There are also unique pieces that tell stories of friendship and sporting passion: thanks to Beppe Bergomi, the collection is enriched with the pink jersey worn by Miro Panizza in 1980. The Eddy Merckx exhibition project begins.
And if the Milan-Sanremo reminds us that cycling is challenge and legend, the Ghisallo Museum prepares a season that honors the myth: at the end of April, a major exhibition dedicated to Eddy Merckx will be inaugurated, the champion of champions, who with seven victories in the Classic has written indelible pages of cycling history. It will be a tribute to the most successful rider ever, capable of triumphing everywhere, from Sanremo to the Tour, from the Giro to the Lombardy. For this special birthday, a fundamental fundraising campaign has been activated, all information here at this link https://www.ideaginger.it/progetti/tanti-auguri-merckx-aiutaci-a-realizzare-la-mostra-in-onore-degli-ottanta-anni-di-una-leggenda.html
