
With the Sunday, March 23rd Varese - Angera race for the Allievi category, the youth road cycling season in the province of Varese officially begins.
Approximately 150 athletes have responded to the Velo Club Sommese's invitation to compete for the Pierluigi Ambrosini Memorial and the 56th edition of the youth classic, a race that will serve as the opening event of the national Oscar Tuttobici challenge. Among the novelties of this edition is the commemorative jersey, which will be awarded to the winner, presented by Velo Club Sommese president Silvio Pezzotta, Massimiliano Ambrosini, and Bosina Cycling Federation president Igor Giaron.
The competition program, which features Filippo Ganna in its honor roll and is considered the Milano - Sanremo of the Allievi category, includes gathering at 8 AM on Via Sacco in Varese and starting at 10 AM in front of the Municipal Palace. The 60-kilometer race includes the first 24 kilometers in a straight line passing through Schiranna, Gavirate, Bardello, Besozzo, Brebbia, Ispra, and Angera, where the final circuit begins, to be completed four times, with passages through the Ranco climb (site of the mountain grand prix), Uponne, and Angera, with the finish on the Angera lakefront expected around 11:40 AM.
