Juan Ayuso pulled off a beautiful double on the roads of Tirreno-Adriatico: stage win and overall lead, with an obvious lock on the final victory. The young Spanish talent from UAE Emirates XRG explained: "Today everything worked really well. The team did an excellent job: we knew we had to make the race tough because there was quite a bit of wind and staying in the wheel allowed saving a lot of energy, so I'm happy to have had Del Toro next to me, he did a super job to the point that... he made me suffer to stay on his wheel. When I attacked, I knew I had to maintain my rhythm to the top. I suffered a bit in the last kilometer, but I'm really happy to have managed to win and take the jersey".
And further: "Tirreno Adriatico was one of my major seasonal goals, not just a test for the Giro, and I'm happy to have shown that I can make a difference at this level. We implemented the plan we had set from the start. I wanted a high rhythm on the climb and, when I saw that the Bahrain pace was not sufficient, I told my teammates to take control of the group and increase the pace. Isaac Del Toro set a rhythm that even put me in difficulty, so much so that I had to catch my breath before the attack. It's been a great start to 2025, this is already my third victory. All of this gives me confidence ahead of the Giro".
