The 2025 edition of the International Coppi and Bartali Week was presented this morning in Ferrara, one of the most anticipated stage races in the international cycling calendar. The event, organized by the Gruppo Sportivo Emilia, will take place from March 25 to 29, 2025, confirming its status as a key reference point in the Italian and international calendar. The event returns to Ferrara, where it was first held twenty-five years ago.
The presentation, held in the prestigious Estense Hall of the municipal building, was attended by local authorities, representatives of the Italian Cycling Federation, representatives of the towns hosting the five stages, as well as numerous athletes and industry professionals.
Francesco Carità, Sports Councilor of the City of Ferrara: "Hosting the 25th edition of the International 'Coppi and Bartali' Week in Ferrara is an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen the bond between our city and cycling. After twenty-five years, this prestigious event, which has seen the greatest cycling champions and continues to be a showcase for emerging talents, will once again make us experience the emotion of great competitions, bringing international-level athletes and serving as an important showcase for the territory. Ferrara, with its cycling vocation, is the ideal stage to celebrate sport as a tool for growth, aggregation, and economic development. We are proud to host this event and confirm our commitment to promoting international-level events. We eagerly await March 25th, as it will be a true celebration of two wheels, and we hope that many citizens and enthusiasts can take part."
Adriano Amici, President of Gruppo Sportivo Emilia: "Over the years, this race has established itself as one of the reference events of the early season and beyond; this is possible thanks to the support of institutions, our partners, and all those who believe in this event. A special thanks goes to the Municipality of Ferrara for welcoming and supporting us with enthusiasm. We are certain that the 2025 edition will once again live up to its tradition. Without the support of local administrations and sponsors who believe in us, none of this would be possible, and our goal is to continue on this path."
Davide Cassani, President of APT Emilia-Romagna: "Adriano Amici's passion and enthusiasm have not changed over time," Cassani said. "It is a real pleasure to see a beautiful, technical route with short but difficult stages, as will be the case in the upcoming International Coppi and Bartali Week. Truly spectacular, highlighting beautiful areas of our region and revealing, to those who do not know them, climbs that are loved by cycling enthusiasts in their respective territories."
The 2025 edition will offer a route that combines tradition and innovation, crossing suggestive and technically challenging landscapes.
First Stage: Ferrara - Bondeno (174.5 Km)
The race will start from a symbolic location: Largo Castello in Ferrara, just like in the first edition of 2001. From here, the peloton will face an initially flat route. The first section includes a circuit to be repeated twice, with a mountain grand prix after 33.5 km. Subsequently, the route will cross the province of Ferrara, alternating between long straight sections and more winding stretches, where wind could play a decisive role. After 106.7 km, the first passage through the Bondeno finish line introduces the final circuit of two laps of 33.9 km each. It is here that we will learn the name of the first leader of the general classification.
Second Stage: Riccione - Sogliano al Rubicone (163.9 Km)
A tough and spectacular stage, with an altimetric profile reminiscent of a classic, with over 3,200 meters of total elevation gain. After an initial undulating section in the Rimini hills, the race enters the Republic of San Marino, facing the first true altitude challenges. The San Leo climb (4.7 km at 7.4%) marks the first mountain grand prix of the day, followed by a mixed terrain until Passo delle Siepi. After the first passage through the Sogliano al Rubicone finish line at km 69, the four laps of the now-classic final circuit of 23.6 km begin, characterized by the "La Ciocca" climb. The finale is selective: 300 meters from the finish, a 180-degree turn introduces the extremely challenging ramp of Via Giovanni Pascoli, with gradients up to 18%, crucial in determining the day's winner on the same finish line where champions like Jonas Vingegaard, Diego Ulissi, Mikel Landa, and Bauke Mollema have previously triumphed.
Third Stage: Riccione - Cesena (142.1 Km)
An insidious and animated stage, perfect for long-range attacks. After an initial section similar to the previous stage, the climbs of Monte Olivo and Verucchio are tackled, ideal for thinning out the group. The intermediate circuit to be repeated twice includes the Sorrivoli climb (1 km at 13%), a true wall that will make race control difficult. The final section of the race includes another circuit with the day's last climb at Diolaguardia, before a technical descent towards Cesena. The final kilometers are very technical and could favor an uncertain finish.
Fourth Stage: Brisighella - Brisighella (150.4 Km)
A stage that retraces the route of the previous edition, with an initial circuit to be repeated three times, characterized by the Monticino climb. The finale includes two laps of a shorter loop that adds the Rio Chiè climb, short but with a 10% section that could prove decisive. Just over 5 km from the finish, the last climb is tackled, followed by a technical descent before the challenging finale: the last 400 meters are uphill and feature rapid successive curves, making the timing of the decisive sprint crucial.
Fifth Stage: Brisighella – Forlì (132.5 Km)
The final stage of the race, part of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, starts from Brisighella; after an initial section without altitude challenges, the route moves into the hills of Forlì. The climb to Rocca delle Caminate must be faced twice, before moving to the eastern part and following a loop circuit including a first climb towards Polenta and a subsequent ascent, short but very demanding, before crossing the village of Bertinoro and closing the loop. A final climb from the eastern side of Rocca delle Caminate will serve as a launch pad towards the final finish line in the central Piazza Saffi in Forlì, where the winner of the 2025 International Coppi and Bartali Week will be crowned and will definitively wear the Sidermec jersey. In Forlì, the Selle SMP jersey for the points classification, the Città di Forlì jersey for the best climber, and the Felsineo jersey for the young rider's classification will also be awarded, along with the first leader of the Challenge Emilia Romagna – Sport Valley.
