Saturday, February 22nd will be the traditional event of the 101st edition of the Coppa San Geo, which will open the amateur cycling calendar in Italy and also mark the beginning of a new season for the Bergamo Elite and Under 23 team Sc Valle Seriana – Cene.
This marks exactly the 16th year of activity for the Orobian society in the amateur category. Over the years, there certainly haven't been many satisfactions in terms of results, but the mission of this team is different and highly commendable: "With my sons Alessandro and Daniele, we wanted to create this team in 2009 with the goal of supporting those young riders who would have had and have difficulties finding a place in an amateur team, and perhaps, as has already happened to us in the past, help them and discover their true value with time and much patience", explains team manager and founder Marco Bazzana.
The debut race, of national caliber, is scheduled in the province of Brescia on Saturday, February 22nd with departure from Ponte San Marco at 12:30 PM and arrival in Pedenghe sul Garda at 4:20 PM.
The team directed by Marco Bazzana consists of 10 riders for the 2025 season. Luca Mazzoleni and Luca Capelli are the only two athletes from Bergamo. The others come from various parts of Lombardy and also from Emilia Romagna. There is also a foreign novelty, as the promising 19-year-old Dutch rider Senna Vis is part of the roster.
