The 106th Milan-Turin presented by Crédit Agricole was presented today in Rho. The world's oldest race, whose first edition dates back to 1876, will start next March 19th from Rho and finish after 174 km in front of the Superga Basilica. The final ramps, with their constant gradient, have written memorable pages of the race's history. From Contador to Roglič, from Valverde to Nibali, the recent honor roll is of the highest level. The list of teams that will be at the start was also unveiled.
THE ROUTE OF THE MILAN-TURIN PRESENTED BY CRÉDIT AGRICOLE
The route is essentially flat in the first half, undulating with some notable difficulties in the second. Departure from Rho to cross the high Po Valley on flat roads in the rice field area, touching Magenta, Novara, and Vercelli, then moving towards the Po River by crossing the rice fields in perfect flatland. This is followed by an undulating section along wide and predominantly straight roads until reaching the final circuit. After San Mauro Torinese, the route follows the Po River along Corso Casale to climb to the Superga Basilica for the first time (diverting 600 m before the finish) to descend to Rivodora with a challenging descent that returns to San Mauro and then climb back to the finish with gradients even over 10%. The last 5 km (which are repeated twice except for the final 600 m) begin in Turin on Corso Casale where the climb to the Superga Basilica starts. The average gradient is 9.1% with a peak around mid-climb of 14% and long stretches at 10%. 600 m from the finish, a U-turn to the left to tackle a ramp at 8.2% and then the final curve 50 m from the finish on asphalt (width 7m).
