Elisa Balsamo has doubled up. After yesterday's success, the Piedmontese rider from Lidl Trek, leader of the points classification, repeated her victory at the Alicante finish line by winning the fourth stage of the Valencia Week, sprinting ahead of Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka, the Polish rider from CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto, and Liane Lippert, the German from Movistar Team. Demi Vollering (Fdj Suez) celebrates the General Classification victory, sharing the podium withReusser (Movistar Team) and Van der Breggen (SD Worx Protime). In the climbers' classification, Brodie Chapman (UAE Team ADQ) prevails, while Eleonora Ciabocco (Picnic PostNL) is crowned the best young rider of the Spanish race.
After around seventy kilometers at the head of the race, a group of nine attackers formed: the 19-year-old Belgian Lore De Schepper (AG Insurance - Soudal Team), the Dutch Nina Buijsman (FDJ – SUEZ), the Australian Amanda Spratt (Lidl – Trek), the Spanish Paula Blasi (UAE), the Ukrainian Olha Kulynych (Fenix-Deceuninck), the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud (Uno-X Mobility), the French Ségolène Thomas (St Michel - Preference Home), the second stage winner Mischa Bredewold (Team SD Worx – Protime) and Ane Santesteban (Laboral Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi). The breakaway had a maximum advantage of about 2 minutes, and the Basque athlete, fourteenth in the general classification at 1'41" from Vollering, was the virtual leader of the time classification for several kilometers.
Pushed by Visma Lease Bike and CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto, the peloton caught the escapees 800 meters from the finish line, and immediately after, the sprinters' teams launched the sprint.
