The Sullivan Restaurant's Event Hall was sold out for the presentation of the 101st Coppa San Geo - 55th Trofeo Caduti Soprazocco-Memorial Attilio Necchini-Giancarlo Otelli. The meeting with authorities, press, sponsors, and cycling officials was held in a cordial atmosphere, in a climate of great serenity that has always been the trademark of the organizing team led by Luigi Borno, Gianni Pozzani, and Rudy Zucca.

The first to speak was Luigi Borno, who emphasized the significance of the race and the importance of all the people involved. "Thanks to our small army of collaborators - he points out - we can already say that this year the event should achieve good participation and public success. We always like to keep our feet firmly on the ground, but we are convinced that this time the show will be of great depth".

It was then Gianni Pozzani's turn to describe the route and officially announce the list of registered participants. "The start is again this year in Ponte San Marco in the square in front of the location hosting us - he said. Then we'll leave the starting area to head into the morainic hinterland of Lake Garda. In this splendid area, the riders will face a challenging circuit to be repeated seven times to complete the 164.650 kilometers of the race. Compared to last year, some teams that have made the history of international amateur cycling but unfortunately have closed down will not be at the start. We are truly sorry, but some of their managers will be our most welcome guests. The group of participants is still qualified because among them will be riders from about twenty countries. I also want to thank the cycling community that has always been by our side and wish the entire caravan a good race".

The Milan-Sanremo for amateurs will take place on Saturday, February 22nd, starting from Ponte San Marco di Calcinato at 12:30 PM and arriving in Padenghe del Garda around 4:30-4:45 PM. The race returns to Padenghe for the third time: in 1980, Silvestro Milani won over Moreno Argentin (the event's guest of honor) and Flavio Zappi. Fifteen years later, the success went to Alberto Destro over Sergio Previtali and Flavio Zandarin. Two podiums with two world champions, specifically Moreno Argentin and Flavio Zandarin. This is a race that has always represented the pass to professionalism: as many as 135 of the 300 available podiums were conquered by riders who later became protagonists at the highest levels. 45% of the medalists did not stop at the podium of the Classic Opening of amateur cycling.

Attending the presentation were Vincenza Corsini (Mayor of Calcinato), Albino Zuliani (Mayor of Padenghe), Alessandro Spaggiari (Mayor of Soiano), Simona Tironi (Lombardy Region Councilor), Floriano Massardi (Lombardy Region Councilor), Stefano Pedrinazzi (FCI Lombardy President), Paolo Zanesi (FCI Brescia President), Silvio Martinello, Mario Chiesa, Orfeo Pizzoferrato. At the end of the meeting, recognitions were given to Luciano Manelli, Silvio Martinello, Orfeo Pizzoferrato, and the Necchini, Otelli, and Zaia families to remember the fallen Attilio, Giancarlo, and Gino who made the history of Brescia cycling.
