"A winning team is not changed" is a saying that for the Giro del Belvedere can also be applied to the route. One year after a very uncertain and spectacular edition, the Easter Monday Classic, scheduled for Monday, April 21st, has confirmed the 168 km route with start and finish in Villa di Cordignano (TV).
After eight passages on the Conche circuit, the central part will continue to be characterized by the Piai della Vigna climb, inaugurated in 2023 for the Centenary edition and since then a crucial junction of the route. In the last two laps, the difficulties of Montaner and Via delle Longhe will, as usual, set the final race on fire.
In 2024, after several breakaway attempts from the very first kilometers, Slovenian talent Gal Glivar prevailed on the final straight. Glivar, who in the meantime has moved to the World Tour with Alpecin-Deceuninck, has extended the streak opened in 2013 of Belvedere winners who later turned professional.
Behind him, plenty of Italy, with 7 Azzurri in the top-10, confirming the growth signals of the movement. The hope for the U23 national team coach Marino Amadori and the entire two-wheel Italian movement is the return to victory by an Italian rider: the last one was Samuele Battistella in 2019.
"Given the great show of last year - commented the organizers of Pro Belvedere - we decided not to make any changes to the route. A tough, appealing, and safe route that for over a hundred years highlights our territory on Easter Monday. Our wish is for another memorable edition that showcases the champions of the future."
