The competitive races reserved for youth categories characterized the first day of the Mamma e Papà Guerciotti Grand Prix at Vittoria Park in Brembate (Bergamo). The program opened with the amateur competition and the show of the Giovanissimi G 5. Then the series of races for competitive category riders began. Among the beginners, Luca Ferro, a thirteen-year-old from Busto Arsizio (Varese), triumphed. At Vittoria Park, the Bustese Olonia debutant achieved his seventh victory of the 2024-25 cross season. "I dedicate this to my coach Giovanni Casiraghi," declared Luca, who won 14 races on the road in 2024. Ferro is the Lombardy Champion in cyclocross and road cycling. "It was very nice to race at Vittoria Park," added the Varese talent, "even though the circuit isn't perfectly suited to me. I prefer more selective routes. I wanted to win by a margin, instead I had to sprint. The victory was uncertain." Ferro won the 45th GP Guerciotti, the first in the Vittoria Park location, riding a Guerciotti. He was followed by debutante Anna Mombello, born in Milan on November 25, 2011: on the ups and downs of the "Vittoria" she practically gave herself a birthday present. Anna Mombello lives in Novi Ligure and trains on the roads dear to Champions Fausto Coppi and Costante Girardengo. The GP Guerciotti represents her fifth victory of the 2024-25 cross season. Beyond the finish line, the effervescent flag-bearer of Guerciotti Development couldn't contain her joy: "This is the best day since I started racing," exclaimed Anna, who attends middle school, "I beat the Italian Champion Irene Righetto, not just anyone. I dream of becoming like the superstar Fem Van Hempel." Between Mombello and Irene Righetto, it was a tight battle. At the "Guerciotti", the winning streak of Italian Champion Nicole Righetto continued among the female cadets born in 2009. "I don't remember how many victories I've obtained this year," says Nicole, from Torre di Mosto, "I've lost only one. I've won all the others." Miss Righetto (who also races and wins on a Guerciotti bike) liked the course. "The scenery is nice, the circuit is tough. I dropped my rivals on the last lap." Nicole Righetto, born on March 26, attends the second year of linguistic technical institute and belongs to the Velociraptors team. "I want to dedicate the success to my team." Rebecca Anzisi imposed herself among the female cadets of the 2010 intake. The basis of her success was the perfect timing in the decisive sprint: "In the finale, I tried and it went well. Now I'm extremely happy." For the girl from Jam's Bike Team Buja, this was her second seasonal success. Rebecca comes from Osoppo, in the heart of Friuli. However, she was born in San Daniele del Friuli, a location renowned for its ham, on February 13, 2010, studies at high school and dedicates her Brembate success to dad Massimo and mom Alessia. "I also want to thank Roby Ursella, our coach, and the Jam's team president, Jessica Baldassa. What do I prefer between road and cyclocross? No doubts: cross is better!" notes Miss Anzisi. In the race for male cadets of the 2010 intake, there was another winning gallop. The author was Michel Careri, born in Aosta on February 27 and residing in Saint Marcel. He took the lead at the beginning of the 2nd of the 5 laps completed, becoming uncatchable. Careri gifts a significant victory to Salus Seregno Guerciotti Development, to the joy of president Moretto. Borile finished second. "I performed at a high level despite the sore throat I had at the beginning of the week," explained Careri, "and I'm surprised by my performance: we're still in November, yet I've reached 100% of my form or almost." The 2009 intake champion attends tourism institute. "I'm in first year," Michel specifies. The first day's program closed with the competition for 2009 male cadets where Tommaso Cingolani gave yet another demonstration of class and strength. The winner of the European Youth Cyclocross Championship in Slovakia is certainly the author of the most spectacular athletic gestures of the first day. The 2009 male cadets covered 5 laps. "At the beginning I was with the others," recounts Tommaso Cingolani, winner of 5 road races in 2024, of which 2 were time trials, "then I put a foot down due to a chain slip. It took me 2 laps to return to the head of the race. It was a furious chase, but in the end I made it, I dropped everyone." Cingolani is active intensely on the road and is also the Italian Individual Time Trial Champion. "I feel in great condition, I'll continue racing until the Italian Championships in early January in Follonica," he adds, "then I'll switch off. A month of rest before starting training for the road season is needed." Tommaso races for the Cingolani team created by his dad. Tomorrow 4 races are scheduled: junior women will be the first to race from 10:30, followed by the women's open (11:30), men's open (12:50), and finally the juniors (14:15). The men's open will be broadcast live on Rai Sport. Additionally, for all today's competitions, there will be video streaming on tuttobiciweb.it and other platforms.
