Dopo 191 km, da Chitose a Shintoku, sul traguardo della tappa d'apertura del Tour De Hokkaido, si presenta un terzetto a giocarsi la vittoria: ed è il forte atleta del Team Vini Fantini - NIPPO - De Rosa, Alessandro Malaguti, ad alzare le braccia al cielo. Dietro, un terzetto del Team della “Montagna Blu”: composto da Shiki Kuroeda, Riccardo Stacchiotti e Pierpaolo De Negri, si piazza rispettivamente in quarta, quinta e sesta posizione. Team Vini Fantini - NIPPO - De Rosa in festa.
Ancora sugli scudi Alessandro Malaguti, che grazie a caparbietà e forza di volontà dopo la caduta si è rialzato ed è ripartito convinto sempre più dei suoi mezzi, convincendo ancora.
Una vittoria che, ancora una volta, è stata propiziata da un eccellente teamwork, una squadra coesa e unita che vuole ben figurare sulle strade giapponesi. Grazie a questo splendido successo Alessandro Malaguti diventa anche il Leader della Classifica Generale, oltre ad avere sulle sue spalle anche la maglia a pois, di miglior scalatore.
