The scent of the Giro d'Italia is beginning to spread, and the city of Lucca has started its approach to one of the key stages of the upcoming pink race, the Lucca-Pisa time trial.
Many initiatives will follow in the coming weeks, and one of these brought Davide Dezan to the city, who met fans and cycling enthusiasts at the Casa del Boia, during the Festival of "L'Augusta the Fortress of Ideas" by president Iacopo Di Bugno. The Milanese journalist, son of the legendary Adriano, presented the book "Marco, forever" dedicated to the mythical Pirate Pantani.
Among those present were Lucca's mayor Mario Pardini, sports councilor Fabio Barsanti, presidents of the Lucca and Pisa cycling committees Pierluigi Castellani and Benedetto Piccinini, Ivano Fanini, patron of Amore & Vita, with brothers Brunello and Pietro and son Cristian, and the director of the Fanini Museum, Stefano Bendinelli.
The Fanini Museum welcomed Davide, who didn't miss the opportunity to literally dive into the stories and memories that the Fanini family has collected over more than half a century of cycling history. Every photo, every jersey, every bicycle was an occasion for a "I remember when...", a "Wow, this jersey...", "Look, on the stage my dad...".
The scent of great cycling, waiting to breathe the always sparkling air of the Giro d'Italia, to discover great champions, to write a new page of history in Lucca.
