Italian athletes were protagonists on the Croatian roads of Umag. Lara Crestanello from Born to Win claimed the third edition of the Umag Trophy Ladies, preceding Emma Bernardi from Mendelspeck E-Work and Belgian Cato Cassiers, a 24-year-old rider in the DD Group Pro Cycling Team jersey.
Immediately behind the podium was 18-year-old Virginia Iaccarino (Aromitalia 3T Vaiano), while Carmela Cipriani (BePink - Imatra – Bongioanni), Anita Baima (Horizons Cycling Club – Team 1971) and Asia Sgaravato (Team Mendelspeck E-Work) finished the 114-kilometer race in seventh, ninth, and tenth place respectively.
Crestanello's victory confirms the Italian athletes' affinity with the Croatian race: last year, in fact, Sara Fiorin won in Umag with Crestanello finishing fourth.
