A "Pogacar-style" performance was delivered today by Juan Ayuso at the Faun Drome Classic, contested over 189 kilometers with start and finish in Étoile-sur-Rhône. The young Spanish UAE Emirates rider attacked 39 kilometers from the finish on the slopes of the Col della Grande Limite and immediately created a gap that his rivals, with Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl Trek) being the most aggressive, were unable to close.
The Danish rider finished 23" behind the winner, while Ben Tulett (Visma Lease a Bike) led a group 1'15" back that included Andrea Bagioli (Lidl Trek) in fifth place and Lorenzo Fortunato (XdS Astana) in tenth.
