BETWEEN VIPITENO-RACINES AND SAN CANDIDO, THE #TOTA FLIES HIGH

After the spectacular start in 2024 from the Würth headquarters in Egna, Alto Adige prepares to welcome the Tour of the Alps 2025 (April 21-25) with three central days that promise to be unpredictable and spectacular.

The day after the first stage, entirely in Trentino, the euro-regional cycling event will restart on Tuesday, April 22 from Mezzolombardo to reach the Alto Adige border and arrive, after 178 Km, at Vipiteno-Racines. This is the longest stage with the greatest elevation gain (3750 meters) of the #TotA 2025.

After departing from the Rotaliana Plain, in Trentino, and a very simple start, the GPM of Monte San Pietro and a subsequent series of rapid climbs and descents are destined to accumulate fatigue for the riders ahead of the decisive part of the stage. Arriving in Vipiteno, riders will enter a circuit to be repeated twice, characterized by the climb of Telves di Sopra, designed to thin out the group in a finale suited to fast attackers.

"The Tour of the Alps is an international sporting event that puts Vipiteno and the entire region in the spotlight", declared Alois Bacher, President of the Tourist Cooperative of Vipiteno - Val di Vizze - Campo di Trens. - "As a stage finish and starting point for the next day, we are proud to host the world elite of cycling. This event not only strengthens our image as a destination for active holidays but also supports the local economy and inspires our community. It's an opportunity to showcase the beauty of our mountains and the hospitality of our region".

"The Tour of the Alps is a cross-border cycling race that sees the world's greatest teams competing in the heart of the Alps through spectacular mountain stages. And then there's the beauty of the territory, with Alpine landscapes as a backdrop to the race, ranging from the freshness of alpine pastures to the vibrancy of inhabited centers. We are therefore pleased that the #TotA will also stop in Vipiteno-Racines. The Tour of the Alps will further enhance the tourist attractiveness of our destination and attract many cycling enthusiasts and guests. We are very proud that our destination is part of this sporting event", commented Thomas Gschliesser, Director of the Racines Tourist Association.

From Vipiteno-Racines, the third stage will also start on Wednesday, April 23, which after 145 Km will bring the Tour of the Alps caravan to San Candido. After a very fast start, the group will face the climb of Antermoia, new to the Tour of the Alps. The subsequent descent, on a wide and smooth road, leads the caravan to the entrance of the Furcia Pass, characterized by consistently double-digit gradients in the last 4 km of ascent.

After cresting the Furcia, the race will return to the valley floor after the descent to pass under the finish line in San Candido and then tackle the climb of Monte Versciaco. Reaching the summit, about 11 km from the finish, riders will remain at altitude for several kilometers on a road full of curves, before facing the final technical descent towards San Candido, in the 3 Dolomiti Peaks area.

The Tour of the Alps will return to Alto Adige also in the fourth stage on Thursday, April 24, starting from Sillian and finishing in Obertilliach. After departing from Osttirol, the caravan will cross Prato alla Drava, Versciaco, San Candido and Dobbiaco, before a brief incursion into Veneto.

After about fifty kilometers, the #TotA will return to Alto Adige by crossing the Monte Croce Comelico Pass to pass through Sesto Pusteria, the hometown of world number one tennis player Jannik Sinner. Subsequently, the caravan will cross San Candido and Versciaco again and the village of Prato alla Drava before crossing the Austrian border and returning to Osttirol.

"The 3 Peaks/3 Zinnen Dolomites region is a true paradise for cycling lovers - from panoramic tours to challenging climbs. We are excited to welcome the Tour of the Alps to San Candido, in the heart of our region", said Dieter Wurmböck, President of the San Candido Tourist Association. - "Cycling unleashes incredible emotions and this prestigious race is undoubtedly one of the top sporting events of 2025. San Candido has already made its mark on the international cycling scene by hosting iconic Giro d'Italia stages and the evocative Eroica Dolomiti, which takes place every year. With the Tour of the Alps, we continue this tradition and reaffirm our role as an excellent destination for outdoor and sports enthusiasts. The media visibility of this event is an extraordinary opportunity to showcase our region as a dynamic and cycling-oriented destination, capable of exciting and inspiring an international audience".
