Visma - Lease a Bike dominated the final time trial of Volta ao Algarve, with Jonas Vingegaard setting the best time, going on to win the overall classification of the race. In the time trial, Vingegaard won with an 11-second advantage over his teammate Wout van Aert, but, more importantly, he beat both João Almeida and Jan Christen, who were leading the classification before the final stage.

"It was a very positive day for me and the team. Of course, I'm happy to have obtained the overall victory, and in this way, it was also a kind of redemption for the second stage, where I felt strong but didn't get the result I wanted" - Vingegaard explained after the awards ceremony - "So I'm super happy and super proud of what we've done".

Everyone knows how attached the Dane is to his family, and the victory in the Portuguese race was dedicated to his loved ones, especially his daughter Frida. "My daughter had told me that I had to win, so her request gave me extra motivation to win, and I did it for her".

Many were waiting to see Visma - Lease a Bike in action during the final time trial, and from what was seen, the Dutch team seems to have returned to the highest levels, with both Vingegaard and Van Aert surpassing their opponents by many seconds.

"It was a really beautiful time trial. I really enjoyed racing it. I like individual time trials like this. Of course, it went well for me, but it also depends on how you show up to the race and if your legs are good. So I can say that my legs were really good".

Vingegaard will now take a short break and return to racing with Paris-Nice, which starts next March 9th, while from the 24th he will be competing in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.

"I can't wait for the next part of the season to begin. I feel happy and I'm content with the result obtained. It was a fantastic route that tells a beautiful story. It's definitely a confidence boost for the rest of the season. I'm also very happy for Wout, who has shown he's in good form. I would have liked to see him win the stage, and I know he'll have his opportunities".
