MARCO VILLA'S ASSESSMENT - "We started with confidence, aware of the solidity of the women's sector, which now must gather results, having been carefully built in recent years. We also know that the men's sector needs a gradual renewal, a process we are addressing step by step. In the quartet, we inserted two young athletes alongside more experienced ones, obtaining a good fourth place. Additionally, two young riders in the individual pursuit defended themselves well, recording excellent times, with one of them even reaching the final for third and fourth place. Let's not forget that until last year, Milan and Ganna were in these finals. Regarding the Madison and other group races, we knew the young riders would suffer, but they performed very well and showed great character: they managed to win two sprints, despite struggling in the last 15-20 kilometers, where the extremely high pace was felt. This demonstrates that we have quality. Now we need to work to acquire, in the next two or three years, the experience and endurance necessary to compete at the highest level. This path will pass through races like these and road activity, which will contribute to their growth".
PRESIDENT CORDIANO DAGNONI - "The four-year cycle restarts under the best auspices. These Europeans confirm what we have known for some time: we have numerous young talents ready to step in as valid alternatives to the champions who made the Italian track a world reference. We still have a long way to go to reach LA2028, but we started on the right foot, in perfect continuity with what was already planned four years ago. The second place in the medal table delights us, as do the three continental titles with the confirmations of Bianchi, the women's quartet, and the grand return of Martina Fidanza, who was certainly one of the absolute protagonists of these Europeans. We are becoming competitive again in women's speed. This is perhaps the pleasant novelty of these Europeans".
