Presented last November in Riva del Garda, during a prestigious two-day event that saw the G.S. Alto Garda host the annual assembly of world cycling organizers (AIOCC), the Tour of the Alps has confirmed its spectacular and successful format for this 48th edition, which has made the euro-regional event an important and prestigious appointment among spring stage races.
From April 21 to 25, on the roads of the Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino, the great cycling champions will return to challenge each other with the aim of conquering the green Melinda jersey, won last year by Spanish rider Juan Pedro Lopez precisely on the roads of Trentino, with the grand finale in Levico Terme, in Valsugana.
The Tour of the Alps challenge will restart from Trentino and particularly from San Lorenzo Dorsino. The ancient village at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites, declared a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, will host not only the eve day on Easter Sunday (April 20) with preliminary operations and team presentations, but also the start and finish of the first 143 km stage. On Monday, April 21, the stage will start with the Paganella in the background and will retrace the cycling route of the Giro del Brenta through Andalo, the Non and Sole Valleys, the mountain passes of Campo Carlo Magno and Passo del Durone, and a 9 km uphill finale from Comano Terme to the finish in San Lorenzo Dorsino.
"For us, sport is an integral part of a broader vision of life and well-being. It represents an essential element of a healthy and active lifestyle, which finds its natural habitat in San Lorenzo Dorsino", stated Alberto Bosetti, President of the Borgo Vivo Consortium. - "The Tour of the Alps, with its delicate and respectful approach to discovering the territory, perfectly embodies the values we identify with and on which we are building our idea of sustainable tourism".
"The Municipal Administration of San Lorenzo Dorsino strongly wanted to be a stage host of the Tour of the Alps. This fills us with pride and, at the same time, makes us responsible, certain that this new sporting event will bring new luster to San Lorenzo Dorsino and the entire Paganella territory. We are happy that professional road cycling, this time in its male version, returns to our village, after the Giro Donne in 2022. The Tour of the Alps will be another challenge that we will try to win together, committed to making the arrival in San Lorenzo Dorsino a great celebration for our entire community", commented Ilaria Rigotti, Mayor of San Lorenzo Dorsino.
San Lorenzo Dorsino itself will offer cycling enthusiasts a dual opportunity: experiencing the #TOTA2025 live and discovering unique landscapes, including the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, Lake Molveno, and Comano Thermal Baths, through a four-day holiday package from April 19 to 22, which includes overnight stay, hospitality entries, bike tours, guided visits, and surprise gifts.
On Tuesday, April 22, the Tour of the Alps will instead restart from Mezzolombardo, an important wine-producing center in the Rotaliana Königsberg Plain. As with San Lorenzo Dorsino, this is also Mezzolombardo's first time as a Tour of the Alps stage host. The second 178 km stage will take the caravan to South Tyrol with a finish in Vipiteno-Racines and includes the first few kilometers in Trentino, passing through the Adige Valley up to the village of Roveré della Luna.
"The Tour of the Alps represents an international sporting event but also an opportunity for valorization for the host communities", said Daniela Finardi, President of the Rotaliana-Königsberg Tourist Consortium. - "The second stage starts from Mezzolombardo, the pulsating heart of the Rotaliana Plain, a land of trade and fine wines. Here, viticulture is not just tradition, but cultural identity: the Teroldego Rotaliano, together with the vineyards embracing the race route, tell a millenary story. For Mezzolombardo too, cycling is not just a sport but a vehicle for important values such as passion, effort, teamwork, and perseverance".
For the entire tourist area coordinated by the Dolomiti Paganella Tourism Agency, these will be days of top-level sports and territorial promotion, thanks to two hours of live TV and the international distribution by Infront, which will bring Tour of the Alps images to over 100 countries worldwide.
"The Tour of the Alps is not just an international cycling competition, but an authentic tool for enhancing our territory", explains Luca D'Angelo, Director of APT Dolomiti Paganella. - "Two wheels, in their different expressions - road and mountain bike - represent a strategic lever to promote our destination and, at the same time, a driving force for the start of the tourist season. Sport thus becomes an opportunity for storytelling, capable of exalting the landscape, the culture of hospitality, and the sense of community. A decisive role is played by the host locations, such as San Lorenzo Dorsino and Mezzolombardo, which with their commitment and passion contribute essentially to the event's success, once again demonstrating how cycling is an integral part of our Alpine identity."
