The thirty-nine-year-old multi-titled Eva Lechner will conclude her long, incredible, and glorious career by racing with the Italian national team jersey at the Cyclocross World Championship in Liévin, France, on Saturday, February 1st. A well-deserved career tribute granted by the National Team coach, Daniele Pontoni, in agreement with the Federation.
"I am very happy, this invitation is an immense pleasure for me: I feel honored! I thank the coach Pontoni and the Federation who have given me this beautiful opportunity to close my career in style, with the azzurro jersey. It's not something to be taken for granted, so I am very grateful to compete in my last race at the World Championship with the national team. I don't know the Liévin track, they tell me it's definitely tough: this will be the last time I wear a race number, and as always, I will give everything I have".
This is an important week for the Bolzano native from Ale Cycling Team: the UCI has announced that for the next mandate (4 years) she will represent the cyclocross discipline in the UCI Athletes Commission. "This is also a great satisfaction", comments a more than satisfied Lechner.
