A peaceful bike ride turned into a very long moment of fear for Pino Petito. The former Lazio professional, who will turn 65 next month, was the victim of an accident while cycling this morning in the center of Civitavecchia.
His brother Roberto, also a former professional, tells tuttobiciweb what happened: "Pino was heading to meet his friends at Scaccia, the bike shop that serves as a reference point for many amateur groups. He was in the center of Civitavecchia, having traveled no more than 300 meters from home when a car suddenly turned right without signaling. Pino swerved to avoid the danger, but his bike got stuck and he was catapulted to the ground. A terrible blow for him: he suffered a fracture of the C1 vertebrae and Atlas, for which he must wear a neck brace, a cerebral concussion, problems with his cheekbone and 12 broken or chipped teeth. He faces 50 days of prognosis, to be spent practically immobile."
