She wanted this victory to redeem the disappointment from the Italian Cyclocross Championship where she had won the silver medal. And so it was for Rebecca Gariboldi, from Brianza and Lissone, of the Ale Cycling Team, who in Monselice in the Padua area won the final stage of the Triveneto Trophy for the Women Elite category. She won by a clear margin over her competitors: two minutes and 54 seconds behind the second-placed rider, Gaia Santini from Team Bosco di Orsago, with Anna Oberparleiter (Team Cingolani Specialized) in third place, three minutes and 44 seconds back. Too easy for Gariboldi, who certainly would have deserved a better stage to express her anger and at the same time her excellent form.
But for the Italian vice-champion, the World Cup trip is already ready, which she will face over the weekend with the colors of Ale Cycling Team. Gariboldi will indeed be at the start of the penultimate stage on Saturday 25 in Maasmechelen, Belgium, and on Sunday 26 January in Hoogerheide in the Netherlands for the final stage. And in ten days, there will be the World Championships in Lievin, France, and her participation in the world challenge would be the right reward for a season full of excellent performances.
