After falling on the last day of the team's training camp in December, Chris Hamilton underwent surgery on his collarbone. Initially, the progress was going in a positive direction, but in recent days Chris has suffered a setback in his recovery and will not be able to participate in his home race, the Tour Down Under. Gijs Leemreize will replace Chris.
Team Picnic PostNL doctor Camiel Aldershof provides an update: "Chris's recovery was going well; he had returned to cycling for a couple of weeks, and we were quite confident that he would be able to participate in the Tour Down Under next week. Unfortunately, in recent days he has suffered a setback and is now quite uncomfortable. We will conduct further evaluations on him, and there is a possibility that he may need to undergo another collarbone surgery".
