The jersey of Turin's Carlotta Borello from Team Cingolani Specialized is now colored white, red, and green. The 23-year-old from Trana has won the Italian Cyclocross title for elite women, which took place in Faè di Oderzo in the Treviso area. On the Faè terrain, the Piedmontese rider started in the second lap, gaining decisive meters on the favorite Sara Casasola (Crelan Corendon), who had returned to racing after an influenza virus that had forced her to stop after the World Cup event in Namur (December 15). However, the true protagonist was undoubtedly the Brianza rider Rebecca Gariboldi from Ale Cycling Team. On the heavy terrain of Faè, Gariboldi recovered position after position, igniting the last two laps of the national championship with an exceptional comeback. Once she reached her rival, the Brianza rider fell victim to a crash just a few hundred meters from the finish. Borello's victory was well-deserved, marking her first national title. The Piedmontese rider finished ahead of an unfortunate Gariboldi and Letizia Borghesi.
