SELLE SMP MASTER CROSS. THURSDAY GRAND FINALE IN CASTELLO ROGANZUOLO
CYCLOCROSS | 25/12/2024 | 08:00 Everything is ready for the grand finale of the 11th edition of Selle Smp Master Cross. On St. Stephen's Day, Thursday, December 26th, 450 athletes from all over Italy will take part in the 4th and final stage of the prestigious cyclocross circuit. Glancing at the entry list, the event can be considered a true national appetizer, especially regarding the UCI categories. The protagonist of this important event will be the Marca Trevigiana, and more precisely Castello Roganzuolo. The organization will be handled by the Sanfiorese Sports Society, an association founded in the distant 1945 and chaired by the mayor of San Fior, Gastone Martorel. The race location, known to all cyclocross enthusiasts, will be the same that hosted the Italian Youth Championships in this discipline in January 2023, a national event that was a huge success and remained in the hearts of all cycling fans. The famous, characteristic, and selective ramps among the olive trees of the Monumental Church of Saints Peter and Paul will once again be the stage for a national competition, the 11th San Fior Municipality Trophy, 5th Adriano Lot Memorial, a race also valid as the final stage of the Italian Society Championship. The provincial champion jerseys of Treviso will also be awarded. The track, which will measure 2.8 kilometers, will be traditionally very technical and will present a significant overall elevation change. But for the 2024 edition, there will be many novelties. The course will develop in the opposite direction, and therefore the finale will be completely new.
The program will start early in the morning. At 9:00, the race reserved for Master Groups 2, 3, 4, and Master Women will begin. Following will be the youngest G6 at 10:05, the Beginners at 10:45, the First-Year Juniors at 11:35, and the Second-Year Juniors and Junior Women at 12:20. After a quick break, the Juniors and Open Women will take the field at 13:30. Grand finale at 14:30 with the Male Open category and Master Group 1.
As soon as the competitions are over, everyone will move to the center of San Fior. The multipurpose room of the San Fior Municipality will host the final awards for the Selle Smp Master Cross and the Italian Society Championship.
General Rankings
We remind you that in the 4th and final stage of the Selle Smp Master Cross, a score of 1.5 will be assigned, and consequently, many leaderships could change.
The situation at the top of the Female Open ranking is very clear. Carlotta Borello from Piedmont, the true star of this national season, will have to face a very experienced opponent, namely Rebecca Gariboldi, who is only 12 points behind in the ranking.
In the male field, the absence of leader Gioele Bertolini opens the doors to an exciting challenge with all the other Italian competitors who will be racing.
The junior challenge for the Selle Smp Master Cross victory will be thrilling. European champion Mattia Agostinacchio will not be at the start, and therefore the coveted jersey will be contested by Filippo Grigolini, who won the first-year junior national title at Castello Roganzuolo, Ettore Fabbro, Giacomo Serangeli, and Pietro Cao.
In the female field, the local favorite Giorgia Pellizzotti, who won the first-year junior national title at the Castello Roganzuolo finish line, has a good margin over Nicole Azzetti and Elisa Bianchi, but the 1.5 score could still shuffle the cards.
The organization reminds that the track test can only be done on Thursday, from 8:10 to 8:50 and from 12:50 to 13:20.
