Umberto Perna, a 62-year-old from Pomigliano, Naples, a physical education teacher and highly regarded cycling coach and technician in the broadest sense, with a specific focus on track cycling, will be the President of the Campania Cycling Federation for the next Olympic four-year period.
During the electoral session held yesterday morning in the Council Hall of the Pomigliano municipality, Umberto Perna defeated the other candidate in the running, Claudio Romagnoli from Caserta, with 43 votes against 41. By his side, to complete the new Committee's organizational structure, Pietro Amelia (deputy) and Domenico De Lucia were elected as vice presidents. Francesco Coiro and Andrea De Felice were finally appointed as councilors.
Umberto Perna, once a coach of the late Crescenzo D'Amore, thus takes over the leadership from Pino Cutolo, of whom he was a valuable collaborator, and who had led the Campanian cycling world, in its various competitive and promotional aspects, for seven consecutive terms. A meritorious continuity record, not just for Campania, which today becomes an emblematic legacy for Umberto Perna.
