Take one of the three founders of the 60-year-old Carrera company, a cycling enthusiast and long-time sponsor of numerous teams, add a small territory that has become the "capital of Verona's enduro scene" thanks to the efforts of the Teste di Marmo association led by Davide Tartali, and you get a mixed dirt-and-concrete pump track that, in just three years, has become a reference point. Francesca Rossi, a colleague at Sportweek, highlighted the significance of this facility, located in Lugo di Grezzana, and shared the words of two relevant people.
Imerio Tacchella, a key supporter of Carrera cycling successes alongside his friend Davide Boifava: «Before the pandemic I decided to donate this field to the municipality, just 100 meters from my house, to expand the sports facility and create a meeting place for young people [...] Without projects like this, the passion for our sport is destined to fade away.»
Damiano Scala, a cycling instructor for Teste di Marmo (the group entrusted with building the track and known for creating a 40-km trail with 1,300 meters of elevation gain to showcase the Lessinia area for mountain and e-bike riders): «We managed to build this pump track with the help of the entire local community, including a gentleman who was digging out a swimming pool and didn’t know where to dispose of the dirt...»
The pump track at Lugo di Grezzana, which complements the Teste di Marmo school just a couple of kilometers away, welcomes riders and trainees of all generations. Passion, blessed passion, combined with investments of money, time and mental energy, ensures that cycling continues to thrive and renew itself in Italy.
