Chiara Mariani is the first woman to become president of the Provincial Committee of Monza Brianza of the FCI. Chiara, from Sovico in Brianza, was elected during the assembly at the historic Villa Camperio in Villasanta, on the outskirts of Monza. Chiara Mariani succeeds Marino Valtorta, who honorably held the position of president for 8 years, that is, 2 terms. The electoral assembly was held in the presence of Ruggero Cazzaniga, vice president of the FCI, Stefano Pedrinazzi, president of the Lombardy Committee, and Gianluca Londoni, regional FCI councilor.
"Marino Valtorta - stated Pedrinazzi - has worked very well. It is in a territorial reality where organizing races is very difficult due to enormous traffic. His second four-year term was hindered by the pandemic, but Marino managed. The Lombardy Committee has great consideration for the Brianza managers and their work".
In the welcoming hall of Villa Camperio, there were also cycling friends including Fabio Perego, who is currently busy organizing the Christmas Eve cyclocross scheduled in Albiate (Monza Brianza) on December 24. The assembly work began with the election of the 3 managers who will represent Monza Brianza at the national electoral assembly on January 19 in Fiumicino. Fabrizio Ghisotti, Franco Sardi and Marino Valtorta will vote for all national positions.
Then the election for the role of president of Monza Brianza began. Chiara Mariani was the only candidate and obtained 36 votes out of 37 available. The new council includes Confalonieri, Gasparello, Ghisotti and Recalcati.
Chiara received a standing ovation; she will work immediately to bring Brianza cycling back to its former glory.
